Three youths arrested

-

Three teenagers were arrested in Narre Warren after allegedly stealing fuel and driving erratically through the Baw Baw Shire area.

On Monday, April 4 a white Kia Sportage with registration INO 2MU was seen allegedly driving erratically along the Princes Hwy near Trafalgar. The car had previously been reported stolen from Caroline Springs.

A witness driving another vehicle called triple zero and attempted to stop the vehicle, which took evasive action to avoid the witness’ car.

The driver of the Kia allegedly braked quickly while being pursued by the witness and caused a minor collision which rendered the witness’ car unable to continue the pursuit.

The Kia pulled into the United Service Station in Yarragon at 8.40am and a passenger exited the vehicle and began filling up the car with fuel. When service station attendants noticed the damage to the back of the car they stopped the fuel bowser from dispensing fuel.

The vehicle allegedly sped off and continued travelling west along the highway.

Police members observed the car near Darnum and attempted an intercept. However, the car allegedly pulled into the service lane and continued driving, forcing the police to stop the pursuit.

Police continued to receive reports of the car driving erratically.

Shortly after, the car was involved in a rear-end collision with three vehicles at Greaves Rd in Narre Warren South. Police arrested the driver, a 15-year-old Caroline Springs youth, and two passengers, an 18-year-old Mentone youth and a 15-year-old St Albans youth at the scene.

The driver of the Kia was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital, and the female passenger was taken to Dandenong hospital with injuries caused by the collision.
