Family friendly and quality racing at cup

-

Another great day of family friendly entertainment, alongside quality racing action, will take place at Logan Park on Easter Sunday for the Warragul Cup trotting meeting.

The event has been staged on the Easter weekend since 2006, and Warragul Harness Racing Club officials have again organised a day which should draw a big crowd through the turnstiles.

Racing action will be highlighted by the $35,000 Downtowner Warragul Pacing Cup, and the $20,000 Eddie Evison Memorial Trotters Cup, which is being run this year for a record stake.

The Pacing Cup was first staged in 1955, making it one of Victoria's oldest country trotting features, while this year is the 25th anniversary of the first staging of the Eddie Evison event.

A strong support program of racing is assured, and patrons can wager on local, Melbourne and interstate events via the on-course TAB. A bookmaker will also field on local races.

The Punters Club, which in the past has produced a profit for ticket holders, will also operate for those looking to let the experts ltake care of the betting.

Raffles and lucky racegoer giveaways will be another highlight, while traditional attractions for the children will return, include balloon twisting, face painting, playground and a visit from the Easter bunny.

There also will be a live radio broadcast from 3GG on course on the day.

Spectators can relax on the lawns or in the Barn Bar, or dine from the indoor bistro, which will also serve takeaway food during the day.

Warragul's recently redeveloped facilities are among the best in Victorian trotting, and can comfortably accommodate a big crowd, whatever the weather.

Entry is free for patrons on Sunday, with action to commence around noon.
