It was an amazing day for netball, with the sun shining and girls up and about.

The club wish Mackenzie Minichiello a speedy recovery and hope it’s not as bad as first thought.

In sweltering autumn conditions, Warragul put up a great fight against a well drilled Wonthaggi outfit.

The Gulls stayed with the away team for three quarters but couldn’t hang on in the final term.

In a physical contest, there were some valiant performances. Veteran Cara Gavin stood tall at goalkeeper, Lily Sheehan showed her versatility and was awarded best on, and Grace Cant chipped in with a solid mid-court display.

On a beautiful day for netball, the Gulls had the opportunity to showcase their skills on a dry court.

It took a little while to gel and come together as one, but once things started to click they were on fire.

With a tall opponent in the goal circle, the defenders worked hard to pick off the balls coming in throughout the game, allowing the attackers to convert.

Warragul trailed most of the game but a strong third quarter and accurate goaling brought the gap back to 11.

Unfortunately, the girls couldn’t hold on, but credit to them for running the whole game out despite the warm conditions, an injury and being up against a great side.

The club wish Tia Jenkins a speedy recovery and hope she’ll be back out on the court in no time.

Awards: Maci James and Hannah Hodge.

15 and under: Warragul 15 lost to Wonthaggi 46
