Top photography on show
From Perth to Cairns and every major city, more than 1300 entries from 128 people flooded in for the 49th Warragul National Photograph Exhibition.
Of these entries, the top 30 per cent – or 446 images – have been accepted to be displayed at the West Gippsland Arts Centre’s Fountain Room from Friday, May 13 to Sunday, May 15.
With free entry, this is a unique opportunity to see a wonderful display of world-class photography here in Warragul.
This major annual exhibition, run by the Warragul Camera Club, will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm across the three days.
In the main display, visitors can enjoy the top entries in 12 sections, five of which are digital and seven print.
Topics range from open, where any image is appropriate, to more restricted sections such as portrait, animals and wildlife, architecture, creative, still life and landscape/seascape where the photographer complies with definitions.
One of the most popular sections this year was animals and wildlife with 264 entries. Entries showcase the range of amazing creatures that inhabit our world. Many of the photographers have taken images from all parts of the world and what a spell bounding display these images make.
Local photographers will be represented as well as a display from school students and the Gazette’s Readers’ Photography Competition with 188 entries.
Whilst visiting the West Gippsland Arts Centre, visit the foyer for the Warragul Camera Club’s month-long exhibition “For the Love of Photography” until Sunday, June 5.
