Not Warragul’s day

-

It was a tough day for Warragul netballers as winter kicked in at Burke St courts against Traralgon.

A grade: Warragul 23 lost to Traralgon 26

The Warragul defensive pressure was amazing. Rebecca O’Halloran, playing up from B grade, created turnovers all over the court.

Jaime Perry, Sienna Green and Alex Cole worked tirelessly in attack, however, it just wasn’t Warragul’s day.

Best on: Tanya Barr. Awards: Renee Cook and Rebecca O’Halloran.

B grade: Warragul 18 lost to Traralgon 49

A difficult game for the Gulls who went down to a strong Traralgon team.

Awards: Grace Cant, Pippa Cook and Ava McGarrity.

C grade: Warragul 33 defeated Traralgon 27

In wet conditions, the Gulls didn’t give any opportunities to Traralgon.

With intense defensive pressure from defenders Ellen Croft and Talarna Olsen, they were able to keep the Traralgon goalers at bay.

Gulls goalers Bella Hefford and Georgia Lyons rewarded every turnover and the Gulls were able to come away with the four points.

Best on: Ellen Croft.

Awards: Bella Hefford and Olivia Serong.

17 and under: Warragul 17 lost to Traralgon 45

The wind proved havoc again on Saturday.

Traralgon started strong, leaving the Gulls to chase from the start.

With some key defensive turnovers all over the court and accurate goaling, the Gulls were able to stay in the game.

Unfortunately, Traralgon were too strong on the day and came away with a 28-goal win.

Best on: Mia Radford.

Awards: Olivia Aitken and Pippa Cook.

15 and under: Warragul 5 lost to Traralgon 62

Not an ideal day for Warragul, losing to a well polished Traralgon side.

A strong performance by star defender Ella Black saw her receive best on court for her impressive skills and determination.

Mackenzie Hennan and Felicity Prestidge also received awards for their positive attitudes that continued throughout the four quarters, regardless of the score.

13 and under: Warragul 3 lost to Traralgon 36

This was a tough game for the Gulls against strong opposition.

The team did not give up and should be proud of their determination.

Awards: Isabelle Nash for making great leads and being a flexible option, Addison Heenan for four quarters of solid defensive pressure, and Elizabeth Kuol for good movement in goals.
