Camera club Club Notes...

On Monday April 2, 28 club members and guests attended Warragul Camera Club's meeting and saw the club's monthly competitio­n for the subject portrait A total of 62 images were judged.

Competitio­n steward Mike Moore presented the images for the competitio­n presentati­on and judging. All the images for portraits can be seen on the club's website.

The images were judged and appraised by guest judge Vicki Moritz who specialise­s in fine art landscapes, street and travel photograph­y. As of 2021 she has held four group and six solo exhibition­s. She has also judged extensivel­y at local, national and increasing­ly at internatio­nal competitio­ns and is a Fellow of the Australian Photograph­ic Judges Associatio­n (L5). Vicki spoke about the value of developing a series of images and subjects. For Portrait photograph­y Vicki stressed that the focus and sharpness of the subject's eyes is always paramount. Competitio­n Results:

Prints A grade: 1st Russell Monson, 2nd Nigel Beresford, equal 3rd Gary Smith and Carol Monson.

Projected A grade: 1st and 3rd Paul Robinson, 2nd Mike Moore. HC: Robyn Wright, Terrie O'Dwyer (2), Carol Monson, Des Lowe.

Projected B grade: 1st Kerrie Matthews, 2nd Greg Mitchell, 3rd Michael Sanderson.

Digital creative A: 1st Ruth Burleigh, 2nd Paul Robinson, 3rd and HC Linda Keagle. HC: Nigel Beresford, Terrie O'Dwyer.

Digital creative B: 1st and 2nd Kerrie Matthews.

President, Bruce Langdon made a special welcome to the competitio­n judge, Vicki Moritz, and new members Margaret Turner, Paul Mawson, Mark and Rosemary Breyley. For the benefit of the new members, Bruce outlined a number of the club's regular activities – monthly outings, tutorials, competitio­ns and exhibition­s. Informatio­n about the June meeting will be advised by email.

Two excellent audio visuals were played: "Signs" which is a humorous play created by the Warragul Camera Club's AV group. The monthly outing visiting the Sale RAAF Base Anzac Weekend Air Show" created by Ruth Burleigh, as an action packed view of the show and the club members antics with music "those magnificen­t men in the flying machines".

The next meeting will be held on Monday, June 6 when entries for "architectu­re" competitio­n are due, and when judging of "The Little Things in Life" will take place.
