Drouin women

Drouin women played their foursomes championships on Tuesday.

This prestigious club event was closely contested with the championship trophy for the best 27 hole scratch score going to Leanne Pollard (11) and Di Sullivan (13) with 142 off the stick.

The 27 hole handicap winners were Anne Neilson (19) and Judy Dixon (18) on 115.75 net.

Drouin's ladies Sunday pennant team played at Yallourn against Warragul, unfortunately going down 1-4, with Leanne Pollard scoring our only win.

Our Monday pennant team went down to Traralgon 1-4 with Shirley Roberts winning a tough match. Hopefully they can get a win this week.

Today sees the start of the Eileen Smith 4BBB event held over two consecutive weeks.

May 31 is a three person Ambrose event so start getting your teams together.

Garfield

Except for a few overnight showers this week the weather was good enough for all events to proceed as normal.

Matt Skinner claimed his first ever Ovens Match Play title with a win over previous winner and multiple runners up member, Shane Male.

This event features the best of the best players and is a highly cherished event so well done Matt.

Saturday was the playing of the first of two qualifying rounds for the 2022 four ball par championship with some excellent scoring being achieved.

Best in with a score of plus 13 was Bob Collins and Doug Amos, plus 11 was the next best by Ken Pettiford and Glenn Wells.

Finishing third were the low markers Grant McLure and Paul Govaars with a round of plus 10.

A field of the 49 pairs lined up for the day with a final score of plus nine or better required getting a ball down the line.

Craig Cousin was the other stand out golfer for the week, backing up last week's win with another Thursday victory with a fine round of the 39 points playing off his mark of 11. Single figures are now on Cousin's horizon.

Finishing second for the major grade was the very much inform golfer in John Blair with 38 points achieved.

A better than average Thursday field of the 60 players took part with Jim Accettura having the best round for the day with a B grade winning score of 40 points to defeat Peter Fedorenko and Dek Bell, who both had the 36 points.

Ian Nicholson won the C grade event on a count back from David Thorp with a score of 35 points.

Speaking of Thorp everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Graham Thorp who is currently recovering from serious illness. Big shout out mate hope you are well.

Dek Bell also enjoyed his golf this week by also winning Monday's event on a count back from Gavin Sharpe with a round of 34 points. On Thursday a final score of the 35 points was required to win a ball down the line.

Next Saturday is the second round of the four ball par championship.
