Late run gives Buln the points

-

BULN BULN and Ellinbank played out an entertaining contest in the Reserves with both sides demonstrating a high level of skills.

The match went goal-for-goal throughout, before two late goals effectively iced the game for the visitors, winning 12-8 (80) to 8-7 (55).

Ellinbank sharpshooter Mat Robertson looked dangerous on the lead, however the Lyrebirds were able to limit his opportunities to stay in the contest.

The Lyrebirds were particularly effective from long range before the form team of the competition in recent seasons found enough to hold on, capitalising on two deep entries to score the final two goals of the match.

Sam Barwick, Ashley Scott, Kristian Bingham, David Miller and Lachlan Elliott saw the Bankers through, while Jarrod Castle, Nicholas Castle, Jared Doyle, Josh Bloink, Bradley Fusinato and Mitchell Park threatened to steal the result for the Lyrebirds.

LONGWARRY overcame a slow start to kick away for a big win over Catani, 17-22 (124) to 2-4 (16).

An 11 goal to one second half delivered a percentage booster.

Christian Borgonovo, Anthony Salce, James English, Matt Kouris, Bailey Osseweyer and Brad Martin were the better players for the Crows.

Liam Ancilleri, Edward Gebar, Josh Miller, Lachlan Pratt, Travis Broman and Ricky Joyce battled hard for the Blues.

POOWONG were made to earn their win over Nilma-Darnum, but ultimately prevailed 12-9 (81) to 2-2 (14).

A six-goal final term from the Magpies ensured the scoreboard didn't reflect the competitive nature of the match.

Gavin Broad, Mitchal Whiting, Tarkyn Taylor-Wilton, Reece Attenborough, Noah Peacock and Brian Jefferis helped the Magpies to a strong finish.

Helping the Bombers remain in the contest were Corey Wright, Brandon Rose, Justin Dessent, Harrison Moore, Dane Johns and Aaron Maynard.

TRAFALGAR kicked away in the second half to comfortably account for Yarragon, 16-10 (96) to 3-6 (24).

The Bloods kept the opposition goalless while adding nine of their own in the second half.

Zack Brown, Brett Cameron, Samuel Wyatt, Jacob Matthews, Ben Doran and Jackson King helped the Bloods finish strong.

Leading an admirable first half effort for the Panthers were Beau Cusden, Joshua Smith-Butterworth, Nicholas Denholm, Nathan Mazza and Corey Binzer, with former umpire Angus Bridge showing his versatility to also finish among the best.

NEERIM-NEERIM SOUTH ran out a big win over Nyora, 19-16 (130) to 1-3 (9).

With best player for the Nyora from the past fortnight Shaun Lamb battling the aftereffects from a bad bout of flu, the Saints simply didn't have the depth to go with the Cats.

Mitch Sayburn booted five goals for the Cats. Joining him in the better players were Chris Saunders, Harry Notman, Toby Bayne, Christian Robertson-Edgar and Mathew Churchill.

Lamb booted the only goal for the Saints to still finish among the better players, along with Joel Anderson, Lincoln Brock, Marvin Sellars, Daniel McDonald and Jacob Zwiersen.
