Good snow tipped for season opening

-

The opening of the winter season at Mount Baw Baw is just around the corner - June 11 - to kick off an action-packed program for the resort.

Whether it be day tips, a weekend stay or a longer holiday visitors will have plenty to choose from including for those not overly keen to hit the ski slopes.

Mt Baw Baw has 25 ski runs, seven lifts, a toboggan park and 10 kilometres of cross-country ski trails and the resort's snow factory ensures that the beginner lessons area and toboggan park will always be open.

New this year will be intensive snowboard and ski lessons for children and weekends and during school holidays giving the adults some child-free time on the slopes or or in one of the mountain's cafes and restaurants.

Snowshoe guided alpine dingo walks with the resort's three resident dingoes - Rowdy, Warragul and Bunji - will run from Mondays to Fridays each week during the season and will give an opportunity to learn about endangered local species including the Baw Baw frog and Leadbetter possum.

"White Christmas" will be a highlight in July with appearances by Santa, carols at each lodge and a free Christmas-themed photo booth.

On September 17 the Great Toboggan Race will be a chance for all comers to claim the title of National Plastic Toboggan champion.

A Brew Fest is also planned during the season with drinks from a Gippsland craft brewer, live music and European-style food.

Accommodation is available in lodges and self-contained apartments and 10 per cent saving on resort entry is available for bookings made online at mountbawbaw.com.au and discounts for midwekk books for the snowshoe dingo walk or tobogganing.
