Run of goals ensures a Buln Buln win

VICTORY by 35-points on the scoreboard may have appeared as a comfortabl­e result for Buln Buln over Longwarry in the Reserves, but it didn't come without its challenges.

Following a tight start which saw one goal apiece to quarter time, the Lyrebirds booted six goals to one in the second term to open a comfortabl­e buffer.

Leading 8-7 to 4-4 at the final change, the Lyrebirds maintained control.

The Crows weren't about to lie down at home and sparked a final quarter comeback, with three consecutiv­e goals closing the margin to ninepoints.

The Lyrebirds found a steadier, only for the Crows to respond again. Buln Buln ran into the open goal to begin a run of four goals to close it out and win, 13-10 (88) to 8-5 (53).

Answering the challenge for the visitor were Chris Sharpe, Ricky McKerrow, Jarrod Castle, Josh Bloink, Luke Fusinato and Brody Pritchard.

Leading the challenge for the Crows were Brad Martin, Brody Hamilton, Ryan Wouters, John Werner, Luke Galley and Christiaan Dauphin.

OTHER matches were one-sided with Trafalgar big winners over Nilma-Darnum, 38-11 (239) to 0-1 (1).

Samuel Wyatt led the charge with five goals in a best afield effort. Other scoring was shared, with 16 goal scorers for the Bloods.

Zack Brown, Benjamin Doran, Grady McMahon, Karl Mutke and Adrian Romano were also among the best for the home side. The better players for the Bombers were Corey Wright, Jamie Terlich, Justin Dessent, Robert Macgregor and Dane Johns.

NEERIM-NEERIM SOUTH gradually increased its lead throughout for a workmanlik­e win over Poowong, 15-13 (103) to 7-3 (45).

Toby Bayne and Harry Notman booted 10 goals between them for the Cats with Eddie McGillivra­y, Adam White, Christian Robertson-Edgar and Mathew Churchill also among the best.

Leading the way for the Magpies were Mitchal Whiting, Kade Anderson, Troy Shepherdso­n, Michael Robertson, TJ Loughridge and Caspian Jackman-Riches. A dominant first half set up Lang Lang's victory over Nyora, 17-15 (117) to 9-5 (59).

The Saints came into the game in the second half to put some respectabi­lity into their score, booting eight goals to seven after conceding 10 goals in the first half.

Rhys Simmons, Luke Clark, Brent Miller, Brett Kelly and Bryce Fraser led the strong team effort for the Tigers. Helping the Saints win the second half were Shaun Lamb, Lincoln Brock, Brandon Lee, Luke Zwiersen, Lucas Lee and Jacob Zwiersen.

FOUR goals from Daniel Hayes helped Ellinbank to a strong score over Yarragon, 19-15 (129) to 4-4 (28).

Lucas Maffei, Sam Barwick, Mathew Dare, Darren Blaney, Sam Brown and Tim Leicester were the better players in a strong victory.

Showing patches of form for the Panthers were Samuel Perry, Ryan Young, Daniel Burke, Michael Price, Jake Cropley and Heath Darcy.
