I suppose if there is very few staff (doctors and nurses) there is no point having a hospital.

Surely our shire and councillors can come up with important necessary projects that need financing.

Perhaps encourage more doctors and nurses to the region or encourage lifting the mandates on jabs so that some of our doctors and nurses can get back to work.

In these serious economic times we may need to spend more wisely.

C Williamson, Drouin

After 12 years of happy retirement in a smaller Gippsland town, we decided, as the ‘shadows were continuing to lengthen’ that we needed to move to a larger town which offered us more security in the form of medical care, transport, more shops, entertainment and facilities generally.

So four years ago we moved to Warragul and what a wise decision that has proved to be.

There are some great little shops, a wonderful arts centre with all their great shows, a large hospital (old, but still very well run), medical facilities, clubs, churches, lovely parks and gardens and the sense that this town is a very ‘caring’ town.

We found as newcomers that people went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and one of the best decision we made was to join a Probus Club, specifically, in our case, the Warragul Rangers Club.

Probus clubs are designed to cater for elderly retirees; for both couples and singles. Like they’re town, they do seem to really care.

They have regular day time bus outings, go to shows in town, organise walks and lunchtime and evening dine outs, have a garden club, a movie group and lots more.

But the wonderful thing is that nobody need to be excluded.

The aged single person (usually a female) who would like to get out more but has transport issues, like driving at night, will find they’ll be catered for with pick ups and drop offs by other members.

There’s no longer any need to sit lonely at home. We’ll make sure you’re not left out - because you’ll find we do care.

If this sounds good to you and you decide to inquire with our Probus club just phone our membership officer on 0428348570, and we’ll take it from there.
