Model railways on show

-

The Latrobe Valley Model Railway Exhibition will hit the tracks at Morwell's Kernot Hall next week.

On Saturday and Sunday, the hall will be set up with all the model railway layouts, and commercial and trade stands a model railway enthusiast could wish for.

Latrobe Valley Model Railway Association is the group behind the exhibition and has been working tirelessly, spending "hundreds of hours" setting it up.

Association secretary Vince Beer said the event was perfect for those passionate about model railways, kids, and families.

"The smiles on the kid's faces are just fantastic, it's a great event for families to go down and spend a couple of hours."

The largest layout on display will be the railway association's 'The Valley', which is approximately eight meters long. There will also be a children's layout that kids can have a turn driving.

This is the first time in two years the association has had the opportunity to deliver the exhibition, which has been running at Kernot Hall for more than 20 years.

Mr Beer said the organisation is extremely grateful for the support they have received from the community.

"I am so astounded by the generosity of the sponsors, we've approached a number of people and we have not had anyone say no," he said.

The exhibition is also being supported by the local Lions Club, who are providing catering for the event.

The railway association is a popular club that is attended by people from all over the region.

Exhibition dates: Saturday 11 June 10am to 5pm, Sunday 12 June 10am to 4pm.

Entry fees: Family $20, adult $10, children $5.
