Strikers’ unbeaten streak
The unbeaten streak continues for both Strikers' junior teams. Friday night saw both teams travel. Under 16s travelled to Monash to face Footscray while the under 18s played in Doncaster.
Despite a messy warm-up with the field only being unlocked 10 minutes before the game started, the under 16s were quick out of the gates, with the opening goal to Jenna McLauchlan. More goals followed and by halftime, it was 4-0. Footscray played better defence in the second half and despite many opportunities, only another two goals were added to the score. The final score was 6-0. Zizi Pozzebon scored three and Bianca Zurrer added two to the total.
Reports from the under 18s games were that it was 'messy' hockey. The Strikers had much of the play but just could not convert and only led 1-0 at the half. A slightly better effort in the second half saw them stretch the lead to 3-0. A win is a win though and they remain at the top of the ladder.
In the Women's VL2 league Frankston traveled to Drouin to take on the Strikers. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Strikers Masters 45 plus were away against Camberwell and came away with a great 2-1 win.
