Seaview inspires ensemble
A new music composition inspired by areas around Grand Ridge Road at Seaview will make its world premiere at Wesley of Warragul next week.
Wesley of Warragul is thrilled to be part of a four-venue world premiere season of Ensemble Volante’s new work “Regermination: Songs of Solace and Renewal in the Australian Landscape”.
Featuring former Seaview resident Alisha Redmond, the ensemble will perform in Warragul on Sunday, June 19 at 2pm.
Ensemble Volante is comprised of composer/pianist Alisha Redmond, soprano Piera Dennerstein and visual artist/lyricist Grazia Marin. Formed in 2018, their work seeks to inspire the listener with a sense of wonder and immersion in the natural world through song.
Alisha, a former St Paul’s Anglican Grammar School student, says “I want to write music that is like an old friend, in which you can always rely on for reassurance, companionship, and peace of mind.”
Regermination is a joyful and cathartic dedication to the boundless landscapes and iconic birdlife of Australia where audiences can bathe their ears in a set of lush new works. Six glorious contemporary art songs and a solo piano piece celebrate the deep connection to nature and the restorative, consoling effect it has on the troubled mind.
Conceived in COVID isolation, the music seeks to find a remedy for loneliness through mindful observation of the natural world around us. It is Ensemble Volante’s intention to take the listener on a journey where they can find solace, calm, and most of all, heartfelt hope for the future within a turbulent, ever-changing world.
Tickets for the Wesley of Warragul performance are $25 and can be booked online or at the door.
