Balfour stepping down from Walhalla Board
The current chair of Walhalla Board of Management David Balfour is stepping down from the board after 20 years.
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is seeking nominations for the volunteers to nominate for the board's next three-year term.
Expressions of interest close next Friday evening, June 24.
Mr Balfour said he believed other members currently on the board were re-nominating.
The Walhalla Board of Management had responsibility to guide the management, protection and development of key assets and facilities in the historic township including the Long Tunnel Extended Gold Mine, Mechanics' Institute Hall, Chinese Gardens and campground, Creek Cottage and the historic post office.
While it receives some state and local government grants its activities are mainly funded by revenue raised from mine tours, property rentals and accommodation fees.
Skills, experience and knowledge in one or more areas of business planning, marketing and tourism, financial management, administration and community and stakeholder engagement are sought.
Applications can be made at www.boards.vic. gpov.au under "board vacancies" and searching for Walhalla Board of Management.
