Young Gulls deliver win

Warragul won three games against Moe at Burke St courts, including the one-goal thriller for the youngest Gulls.

A grade: Warragul 54 lost to Moe 58

It was a great day for netball with the sun shining and no wind or rain.

The Gulls girls got off to a slow start but came out to play in the second half.

However, Moe proved to be the stronger team on the day.

Some brilliant goaling by Ella Rees and some impressive defence from Renee Cook were highlights to keep Warragul in the game.

Strong midcourt performanc­es from Alex Cole and Mia McGarrity gave the Gulls the drive needed in the second half.

B grade: Warragul 37 lost to Moe 61

A strong performanc­e by the B grade girls this week saw them go down by 24 to a tall, physical Moe side.

Gulls applied great defensive pressure, which was compliment­ed by a hard working midcourt. Goalers Naomi Allardyce and Ava McGarrity worked brilliantl­y in the ring.

C grade: Warragul 42 defeated Moe 27

A fantastic day for Warragul’s C grade team on Saturday.

Hard work from the defence end, all the way down to the goalers, saw the Gulls come away with the four points.

The hard work from Olivia Serong set the pace for the game, always being an option from defence to attack.

Best on: Olivia Serong.

Awards: Georgia Lyons, Kim Weller and Emily Hobbs.

17 and under: Warragul 35 defeated Moe 23 A great start by the Gulls saw them secure a decent lead.

Great defensive pressure by all led to turnovers across the court, and the girls were able to capitalise.

Best on: Pippa Cook.

Awards: Ava McGarrity and Charli Hendrikse. 15 and under: Warragul 17 lost to Moe 25

An exciting day of netball for the Warragul girls who displayed great quality netball.

Although the result was not what the Gulls were looking for, a strong performanc­e in defence was brought forward by best on court Felicity Prestidge.

Alishia Smith and Mackenzie Heenan also received awards for their skill and relentless determinat­ion which kept Warragul in the game for all four quarters.

13 and under: Warragul 17 defeated Moe 16

A hard fought and well contested game across four quarters saw the Gulls came away with a one-goal win in an exciting match.

The versatilit­y of the team was on display, with players performing well in multiple positions.

A great win and a good opportunit­y for the team to perform under pressure.

Finlay Heenan was a standout with her performanc­e in the mid court. She was a worthy recipient of best on court.

Olivia Barr also received an award for her tireless work in defence and Elizabeth Kuol for her versatilit­y in both goals and defence.
