Chaotic Shakespeare comedy
Shakespeare will return to the West Gippsland Arts Centre stage when hilarious romp “The Comedy of Errors” is performed on Saturday, July 30 at 7.30pm.
Bell Shakespeare, renowned for presenting William Shakespeare’s works to modern-day audiences whilst still endearing to those who love its tradition, will bring this play to Warragul filled with far-fetched coincidences and chaotic hilarity.
After being shipwrecked and separated 33 years earlier, this play tells of two sets of long-lost twins who miraculously find themselves in the same city on the same day. What could possibly go wrong?
“The Comedy of Errors” is a hilarious romp of swapped identities, misguided love, mistaken imprisonment and chaotic mishaps, leading to an unbelievably crazy day for bumbling twins.
At the heart of this tale of comedic misfortune is an old man searching for his lost children. He finds himself in a hostile land, in the fight of his life...to save his life.
As far-fetched coincidences unfold, chaotic hilarity ensues and a man’s life could be saved - if only everything would go to plan.
Directed by long-time Bell Shakespeare collaborator Janine Watson, this is a beautiful story about reunion, wrapped up in an evening of entertainment and laughter.
The cast includes Julia Billington as “Dromio of Syracuse”, Skyler Ellis as “Antipholous of Syracuse”, Giema Contini as “Adriana”, Ella Prince as “Dromio of Ephesus” and Maitland Schnaars as “Egeon”.
“The Comedy of Errors” is recommended for those aged 12 years and above.
Tickets are $50 for general, $45 for concession, $42 for members and $33 for youth under 18.
