Tough day for Warragul netballers

Warragul had a tough day at Traralgon with all teams unable to find a win.

A grade: Warragul 33 lost to Traralgon 40 B grade: Warragul 33 lost to Traralgon 56

Traralgon proved too good for the Gulls.

The welcome return of shooter Sophie Fennell after injury bolstered the Warragul side but Traralgon were just too strong across the court. Best on court: Sophie Fennell.

Awards: Lily Sheehan and Pippa Cook.

C grade: Warragul 26 lost to Traralgon 36 The Gulls held on well through four quarters of tough netball against a well oiled Traralgon outfit.

The girls worked hard, applying strong defensive pressure, but Traralgon were too strong.

Best on court: Olivia Serong.

Awards: Young guns Molly Young and Emily Hobbs.

17 and under: Warragul 21 lost to Traralgon 47

Intercepts all throughout the court kept Gulls in the game. A strong second quarter from Traralgon saw the Gulls chasing, but they didn’t go down without a fight.

Accurate shooting from the goalers saw them stay in it during the third quarter. However, a lapse in the last quarter let Traralgon run home with the win.

15 and under: Warragul 6 lost to Traralgon 74 It was a tough day of netball for the Gulls. Best on Mackenzie Heenan displayed great accuracy and skill in the goal ring.

Felicity Prestidge and Alisha Smith also received awards for there relentless determinat­ion and defence against a skilled Traralgon side.

13 and under: Warragul 11 lost to Traralgon 50

Determinat­ion and persistenc­e was on display for the Gulls against Traralgon.

Despite the final score, the Gulls did not stop applying pressure to their opponents and should be proud of their efforts.

Best on court went to Zaria Dalton who worked tirelessly all game and was responsibl­e for multiple turnovers. Awards also went to Finlay Heenan for great versatilit­y in the midcourt and Addison Heenan who continued to apply defensive pressure all game.
