Consecutive wins for Buln juniors

-

HAVING secured its first win of the season last week, Buln Buln's under 16 side were able to make it consecutive wins over Poowong.

Three goals from Matthew Cahill helped the Lyrebirds kick out to a handy buffer at the final change on the way to winning 8-10 (58) to 5-3 (33) following an even final term.

Yarragon and Longwarry also continued their impressive form.

Trafalgar gave Yarragon a run for their money early, heading into the first change trailing by just one-point courtesy a goal to Caleb Wilson. The Panthers then kicked away to win 8-11 (59) to 1-1 (7).

Longwarry shook off a persistent Ellinbank late, the Eagles keeping the margin to single figures at each change.

The Crows kicked away in the final term, adding three goals to no score to win 8-6 (54) to 4-2 (26).

Results also went as expected in the under 18s, with second-placed Ellinbank and third-placed Buln Buln recording wins.

Ellinbank's game against Longwarry didn't come without a scare however, despite the 8-5 (53) to 5-5 (35) final score.

The Eagles controlled the first half, only for the Crows to come storming into contention in the third term to take a one-point lead into the final change.

Ellinbank steadied in the final term, kicking four goals to one.

Buln Buln were challenged by Yarragon early but were able to take control of the contest after quarter time.

Four goals to Logan Wallmeyer following a taste of senior experience last week and a best afield effort from Zac Sherrard helped Buln Buln kick away and win 1212 (84) to 4-6 (30).
