Arts centre season a hit
The West Gippsland Arts Centre has hit the ground running in its first post-COVID season, with a series of recent sell-outs and hit shows.
It comes as the arts centre nears its 40th anniversary later this year, with a special celebration event in the works to mark the occasion.
The arts centre is working to attract community groups and residents back following more than two years of little show time due to COVID restrictions.
Recent sell-outs and hit shows show excitement as live entertainment returns. These shows included Human Nature, Jon Stevens, Kate Ceberano, Xavier Rudd, John Williamson, Kate Miller-Heidke, and The Wiggles.
“The overwhelming response to recent shows tells us that the community is eager to attend live entertainment again,” Baw Baw Shire Council chief executive officer Mark Dupe said. “We’re delighted to cater to that excitement with a program that really does offer something for everyone.”
“We’re incredibly excited about the arts centre’s upcoming program and new direction that it is taking under Rowenna Dunn’s leadership.”
Recently secured partnerships with major industry players Live Nation and Frontier Touring will bring a new echelon of international performers and tours to the region
The arts centre’s program will maintain momentum right through to the end year. Ahead are Brisbane’s acclaimed shake & stir theatre with their production of “Jane Eyre” on Wednesday, August 24, followed by Aussie rock legends “Goanna” celebrating 40 years of “Spirit of Place” on Friday, November 4, and a hotly anticipated performance by the world’s most popular ABBA show “Bjorn Again” on Friday, November 11.
