Police seek Churchill man

-

Local police are searching for a 24-yearold Churchill man in connection to a number of offences, including two aggravated burglaries.

Police said the man attended a property in Princess St, Warragul, where a number of tools were left strewn about the front yard.

The incident occurred sometime during Thursday night and early Friday morning.

The man also attended another address where he allegedly entered an unlocked garage and took Irish memorabilia.

Once police attended the scene they located a white Ford Territory which they said had been stolen. At the time police were looking for both the car and the man for questioning.

After locating the Ford, police found a car door had been opened at a neighbouring property, however, it was unclear if anything had been taken.

Police said they cordoned off the area as they believed the man to still be in the vicinity. But due to weather conditions, they were unable to access a helicopter to aid in the search.

After the police left the scene the man was spotted on Ellen Close, Warragul at 3.30am on Friday, looking through the windows of a home. Police were called.

In the meantime, police said the man entered a garage and attempted to start a Toyota Hilux parked inside. However, the owner of the Hilux entered the garage and the man fled the scene.

Two doors up from the home with the Hilux the man was spotted in a backyard. He was barefoot and captured on CCTV.

Police again cordoned off the area and attempted to locate the man.

However, the helicopter was still unable to take flight at this time and he was unable to be located.

Later that morning, at about 5.30am, a grey Honda CRV was taken from a property on Stoddarts road.

Police said the man is believed to be connected to the theft and is still evading arrest.
