Book week at Myli

From 20th – 26th August, Myli – My Community Library will celebrate Book Week with StoryTime sessions at our library branches in Baw Baw, Bass Coast and South Gippsland! The theme for 2022 is ‘Dreaming with eyes open.’

Come along to a StoryTime session at Drouin Library on Monday 22nd at 10.30am and Wednesday 24th at 10.30am, or Warragul Library on Friday 26th at 10am dressed as your favourite book character or in your pyjamas.

We will share stories, rhymes and create a special book-themed craft.

StoryTime is a fun, free, 30-minute session for children and their parents and carers, led by a Myli team member.

Sessions are aimed at pre-schoolers aged 2-6 years, however all children are welcome.

These programs feature storytelli­ng, singing songs, rhymes and craft activities.

If you can’t make it to StoryTime, please come and visit us at the library to show off your Book Week costume or to tell us about a book that is special to you! We’ll have some Book Week displays filled with books we love for you to borrow and enjoy at home.

We’ll also be celebratin­g National Science Week during 13th – 20th of August with events based on this year’s theme ‘Glass – More than meets the eye’.

We’ll have a range of free programs for young scientists to discover the many roles that glass plays in our lives.

In Baw Baw we have teamed up with STEM Zone to host a series of workshops with fun hands-on activities and investigat­ions. Join us at Drouin Library on Monday 15th August 4pm, Warragul Library on Thursday 18th August 4pm or the Trafalgar Community Centre on Friday 19th August at 4pm.

If you can’t make it to our Science Week events, please join us at our regular monthly STEM-based programs at Warragul Library. Learn to play card games, chess and a variety of board games at Table Top Games Club on Thursday 25th August 4pm. There’s Lego fun suitable for the whole family at Lego Club on Saturday 3rd September 10.30am.

Join in building challenges or build your own creation.

We’ll be exploring and creating Minecraft worlds at Future Lab on Tuesday 13th September 4pm on laptops in the library. You’ll have lots of fun exploring Science, Technology, Engineerin­g, Art and Maths during Young Einsteins on Thursday 22nd September at 4.30pm.

Myli – My Community Library host a wide range of free events for all ages every month across Bass Coast, South Gippsland and Baw Baw Shires.
