After a brief annual meeting, the general meeting will follow with final plans for the spring show being shared, judging results given and plant culture of the show bench plants explained.

There were 13 members at the August meeting, though just a small group, there was lively discussion about the orchids brought in for judging.

Warragul Ranges Probus

“Nothing - not a conversation, not a handshake or even a hug, establishes friendship so forcefully as eating together.” (Jonathon Safran Foer).

If you’re a member of the Warragul Ranges Probus club, or decide to become a member, you will discover this at the club’s various dine out groups.

Each month there is always three organised dine out opportunities.

First, after the monthly club meeting at the Golf Club, held on the fourth Thursday of the month, members have the option to join other members in the golf club’s restaurant for an ‘a la carte’ lunch..

Second, is the monthly Evening Dine Out held on the first Thursday of the month at a carefully selected local restaurant.

As this is an evening event and some members are unable or unwilling to drive at night, the organiser will arrange pick-ups for those members - so there’s no need to sit home alone when you can be sharing a meal and good fellowship with club members.

There also is a separate lunchtime dine out experience for men and women on the first Tuesday of the month. They will usually dine at separate venues but that are in close proximity to each other. This allows couples to use the one vehicle to get to the area and then go their different ways, and men can share ‘men’ things and women can share women things over a meal.

To inquire about joining the club, phone 0428 348 570.

Warragul Organ Club

Come along and enjoy a warm friendly afternoon of music, cuppa and a chat on the first Saturday of each month, unless otherwise advised.

Entry is $5 with a token ticket for a draw for the lucky door prize. Raffle tickets are available to purchase.

The next club day will be held on September 3 at 1.30pm in conjunction with the annual general meeting at Wesley Hall, 62 Victoria St, Warragul.

Singers of Joy

Singers of Joy currently have some vacancies for new members.

We are a caring, friendly group who meet in the Warragul Uniting Church for rehearsal on Thursdays from 1.30pm to 3pm.

This is an all-female choir, singing in two or three parts. We are particularly needing some sopranos: we have a wonderful alto line, and need a few more sopranos to keep the balance right.

We have a varied repertoire which changes two or three times a year.

We sing folk songs, songs by classical composers, Gilbert and Sullivan, musicals and some really inspirational songs too. Covid permitting, we sing in retirement villages, nursing

homes and for special occasions.

If you are interested in joining phone Joy on 0409 519403

Strzelecki Bushwalking Club

Strzelecki Bushwalking Club members have been involved in many activities recently including a damp walk in the Morwell National Park and a hike through some tall timber following historic timber tramways near Powelltown. Members also have been bike riding on the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail.

All activities have been well supported and enjoyed by the participants.

A 10 km walk around the Sale Wetlands will be run on Sunday, September and on September 4 another group will set out to Mushroom Rocks.

The next club night will be held at the Trafalgar Scout Hall on September 14 at 7.30pm. Guest speaker will be Maria Garrett talking about hiking in Scandinavia. Visitors are most welcome to attend.
