Nine hole competition - nil

Drouin

Wednesday The mid-week competition was again abandoned due to the weather. Saturday

The course conditions slightly improved for Saturday's competition, however most players found the going tough with the ground still wet and slow.

It was no trouble for Shane Davidson however, who managed three birdies on his way to a very impressive 41 points and winner of A grade.

B grade provided a tight contest with the countback going to the last six holes. The eventual winner was Ray Smith with 37 points.

DTL's went to Paul Timewell 38, Peter Downward 38, Warren Cook 37, Tristian Ashby 37 and Peter Morris 36.

NTP's were Jim Bransgrove 5th, Peter Smith 8th, Scott Blaney 10th and Peter Morris 14th.

Upcoming competitions are Stableford on Wednesday and stroke on Saturday for September's monthly medal. Garfield

Saturday's golfers, after a very wet week with over 50mm of rain in the gauge, got the best of the weather with a stunning late winter's Saturday.

Even with the use of carts being excluded, the course has held up particularly well with a few heavy protected areas dotted throughout the course.

This week's spotlight goes on the great consistent play over the last three months of Ian Nicolson, who topped off a fantastic winter by winning Thursday's comp with a great score of 39 points to defeat another consistent player in John Blair by just the one point. On Thursday a final score of 34 points or better was needed to get a ball down the line.

Nicholson's recent successes have included the two wins with scores of 35 points, as well as runner-up with 34 points whilst also finishing C grade runner-up for the July monthly medal. Fair play to you sir. As he has won the two events over the last two weeks he will now attempt, if he saddles up for the three weeks in a row, to become just the second person after the 'master' Rick Falcone to win the three weeks in a row over the last 20 years.

Even without carts being available a fantastic field of 96 turned out for Saturday's game of single Stableford, with Craig Metcalfe having the day's best round with an A grade winning score of 39 points to defeat Andrew Hale by just the one point.

Bob Collins won the B grade event with a handicap score of 36 points to defeat Peter Johnson, also by the one point. Martin Dinsdale got the C grade victory with a good score of 38 points defeating Choon Cheng and Greg Nicholls who both had rounds of 35 points. A final score of 34 points or better was needed to get a ball down the line.

All members are advised that entries for Garfield's famous October three-person Ambrose event are now open, and with spaces sure to fill quickly members are advised to seek entry by the official form ASAP. Cost, which includes lunch, is $100 per-team made up of mixed or same-sex players. With a maximum of the 40 teams of three for this event; it will surely be yet another sell out day.

The club held its 2022 AGM on Saturday with copies of all affairs being available at the club, which has shown significant growth around the general course play and clubhouse patronage.

Congratulations and thanks to all office bearers for their work and being returned to office for a further 12-month period.

Next Saturday is the September monthly medal. Members are urged to contact the club re. the usage and availability of golf cart hire. Results
