Buln Buln brutalise Lang Lang in reserves

-

BULN BULN took control of its reserves elimination final in the first half, kicking clear early on the way to comfortably accounting to Lang Lang 15-8 (98) to 6-8 (44).

Sublime play in the first half saw Buln Buln open a 50-point lead at half time, which would ultimately prove the difference.

Adam Rakip looked dangerous forward of centre and soon had the first goal of the contest on the way to finishing with five for the afternoon.

The Tigers responded through Brett Kirkham but the resistance was short lived, the Lyrebirds booting the next eight goals to open a handy buffer.

Running goals to Jared Doyle and Simon Dawson were followed by a Rakip double, the Lyrebirds finishing with six goals for the term.

Rakip converted from the lead, as did Chris Sharpe made it nine goals to one.

Lang Lang began to show some fight through the remainder of the contest, but the damage had been done.

Jack Jenkins strolled through for a goal to stop the rot, only for the Lyrebirds to respond as Bryce Monahan brushed aside a tackle to snap the goal.

Brett Kelly stole the kick off the Tigers' third to close to 50-points at the long break.

A competitive second half became a physical affair, becoming spiteful at times with plenty of wrestling and remonstrating as two Lang Lang players made their way off on the stretcher.

Scoring slowed, although the Lyrebirds still won the half with four goals to three.

Rakip, Jake Baker, Jared Doyle, Brendan Wall, Thomas Park and Fynn Hammond helped Buln Buln take control of the contest.

The better players for the Tigers were Daniel Nicholls, Troy Miller, Brent Miller, Jack Jenkins, Brandon Dalli and Rhys Simmons,
