Youths antagonise police

-

A group of youths in Drouin have allegedly been antagonising local police by calling triple zero and Warragul Police Station multiple times.

On Wednesday, police were patrolling Warragul at 1.30am when they saw three youths riding scooters with no helmets on.

Police allege the three boys were jumping fences and trespassing on properties, before dumping their scooters in an alleyway.

While collecting the abandoned scooters, police encountered the three boys from Drouin, two aged 15-years-old and one aged 14.

Police said the youths became hostile and one of the 15-year-olds spat on a police member.

The youths allegedly told police they were planning on smashing nearby windows to gauge a reaction from the members.

The following night, police received multiple calls from mobile phones just after midnight. Police said they attended Grant St in Drouin where they saw the three boys from the previous night with another four youths.

Police allege the youths had been placing trolleys in the middle of the street and pushing bins over.

When police arrived the youths allegedly began yelling abusive comments.

Police cleared trolleys from the road but allege the youths continued to call Warragul Police Station.

The youths were later located again at Drouin Recreation Reserve, where they rode away from police on scooters.

Police approached one youth, who allegedly became aggressive and threatened to produce a knife, after which police deployed capsicum spray to subdue him.

Investigations are continuing into the incidents.
