Yarragon Good Friday appeal does it again
Yarragon has again dug deep to raise $55,687.68 for the Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
The town's donation contributed to the $23,061,320 raised in total and the $4 million contributed by regional and rural communities.
The total amount raised exceeded the $51,129 raised by the Yarragon community in 2022 and was the highest of Baw Baw Shire towns.
Other donation totals from West Gippsland towns were $17,896 from Warragul, $14,713 from Trafalgar, $10,468 from Drouin, and $9154 from Bunyip.
This year, funds from the Good Friday Appeal will go directly to new and ongoing programs including, cardiac projects, the Centre for Health Analytics, development of the Melbourne Children's Campus Mental Health Strategy and vibrant youth program Chronic Illness Peer Support (ChIPS).
The Yarragon Good Friday Appeal was supported by people across Baw Baw and donations came from initiatives including the Good Friday Run by the Baw Baw Runners Group - which raised $5603.
Yarragon Ale House also chipped in with a three-day fundraising event the week before Good Friday with the help of the Drouin, Warragul and District Apex Clubs.
The Yarragon GFA's monster raffle was again very successful, with 200 raffle books sold, a total of 10,000 raffle tickets.
Another local initiative that contributed to the cause was the Glen Cromie Reserve raffle. Organisers thanked everyone who supported the raffle in its third year and announced $2609 was raised by Glen Cromie.
Good Friday Appeal executive director Rebecca Cowan thanked Victorians for their support..
"We are so thankful to the incredible communities across regional Victoria each and every year.”
“Their passion and generosity never ceases to amaze us and this final tally could not have been reached without the dedicated communities across the state who have come together for the kids."
