Women’s State League Three: Gippsland United drew Endeavour United 2-2

The women came away with a hard fought draw on Sunday.

The girls showed great ball movement, and were definitely the stronger team on the day. However, they just failed to find the back of the net when it counted.

Best: Mia Guarascio and Chelsea Rooseboom.

Women’s State League Four: Gippsland United lost to Sandringham 5-8

In a spirited performance, the women went down 5-8 in a hard fought game in Warragul on Sunday.

Under 13 girls: Gippsland United defeated Chelsea 3-2

This was a great result, having trailed 2-0 early. This seemed to kick the girls to life, with Asha Earwicker, Anika Nair and Amelia Freeth getting the momentum back in the midfield. They were well supported by Edith Box, Taleah Webb and Addison O’Connor in defence, who combined well to ensure they didn’t concede any more goals.

Up front, Georgia Nankervis and Summer Spencer created a lot of chances. However, it was Almasi Keary who put herself in the right spots and got the reward she deserved with three goals. An absolute dominant performance in both games.

In goals, Ruby Reidy made a match winning save late and was strong all day.

Under 12 boys: Gippsland United drew Cleeland 3-3

The boys had their first outing with a trip to Dandenong to play Cleeland United Buffaloes.

Cleeland went ahead after 10 minutes and quickly added a second as United struggled to mount any meaningful attacks.

Slowly United got into the game and pulled one back through Hunter.

Despite coming out very strong in the second half, United did concede a third goal from a long-range effort, which was a great strike.

The last 15 minutes were all United, with the ball rarely in their half. They had several chances and two quick goals from Cruze and Hunter tied everything up.

The boys were very unlucky not to get the win, hitting the post twice and the crossbar once in the last five minutes. It was a very impressive team performance, with tremendous effort by all.

Under 12 girls: Gippsland United defeated Seaford 4-3

United got its first home game of the season underway with a come from behind win.

Almasi Keary scored all four of her team’s goals with a dominant performance.

Katishia Kennedy was also a livewire up front and provided a great assist to tie the game.

Some great team pressure forced a free kick just outside the box, which Almasi drilled into the top corner for the win.

Amelie Williams and Matilda were rock solid in defence, while Asha Earwicker in goals kept her team in it with several strong saves.

Amina Egobi, Morgan Knowles, Camille Hanley did great in their first games.

Under 10 boys: Gippsland United defeated Pakenham 6-0

The boys took to the pitch against Pakenham, having already played two practice matches against them. They had recorded one win and one draw.

Coming out strongly, most of the play in the first half was in United’s forward line.

As a result, Gippsland took a commanding 2-0 lead into the half-time break.

Coming out fired up again in the second half, the boys showed no mercy, piling on another four goals to win comfortably.

In goals, Ethan did a great job to keep a clean sheet, denying Pakenham from two clear one-versus-one contests.
