Warragul show fight
Warragul netballers had a tough day on Saturday, hosting a well-oiled Leongatha.
A grade: Warragul 27 lost to Leongatha 38
It was a tough game against a welloiled Leongatha side.
To the girls’ credit, they continued to fight throughout the whole game.
A highlight was some great defensive pressure by Ella Rees and Renee Nobelius, who were judged the Gulls’ better players for the day.
B grade: Warragul 38 lost to Leongatha 61
This game was an exciting opportunity for the Gulls to take on the strong Leongatha.
It was a tight game in quarters one, two and four. Unfortunately, the Gulls lost their legs in the third quarter which saw the game blow out.
Lily Sheehan was unstoppable in the midcourt, putting immense pressure on Leongatha’ mids. Kenz Minichiello put on a show in defence, keeping her team in the game.
C grade: Warragul 25 lost to Leongatha 52
The Gulls continue to gel together more each week.
Cara Gavin led a confident defensive end, sharing guidance to her younger teammates.
Eleanor Millis’ endeavour and ability to take on feedback results in her continued improvement every week.
17 and under: Warragul 14 lost to Leongatha 64
In a tough hit out against a strong Leongatha, Warragul went down by a decent margin.
The Gulls struggled to convert turnovers and find rhythm down the court to score off balls.
Although, injuries to multiple players through the game, contributed to the disruption in connections across the court.
Awards: Best on court this week went to defenders Molly Young and Arabelle Looby. They were praised for their tireless work against strong Leongatha goalers.
15 and under: Warragul 18 lost to Leongatha 38
Despite close scores early in the game, Leongatha was able pull away to secure the win.
In the face of tough competition, the Gulls worked hard in both goals and defence, relying on a whole team effort to put up a strong fight.

13 and under: Warragul 11 lost to Leongatha 38
The Gulls have really improved and the game was a great one to watch.
Evie Jones played wing attack and proved she was a well deserved award winner. Evie’s leads at the centre pass and then into the goal third were very impressive.
Finlay Heenan was awarded best on court for another brilliant game in goal defence. Finlay worked exceptionally hard defending and then supporting her team to bring the down into the goal third.
