Different structure at Chairo

-

The structure at Chairo Christian School in Drouin is quite different to most other schools, with a Kindergarten (K3 and K4) and Junior School (Prep – Year 4) on Lardners Track and both Middle School (Years 5–8) and Senior School (Years 9–12) a few minutes away on Balfour Road.

The Principal, Judy Linossier, explained: ‘Students usually experience a significant change when they move from primary school to secondary school, where they suddenly encounter multiple teachers in various classrooms each day.

However, in our Middle School, all students have a consistent core teacher for a number of their subjects each day, as well as some specialist teachers.

This provides a caring and supportive environment with a strong emphasis on relationship building.’

The Middle School curriculum at Chairo is academically rigorous, while being relevant and engaging for teenagers.

It caters for individual differences and learning styles, and also helps learners discover and develop their interests and passions.

Teachers make every effort to understand this stage of life and are committed to working in partnership with parents and guardians.

They model life-long, independent learning, encourage students to reflect on their strengths and areas for improvement, foster cooperative learning, provide enriching and engaging learning opportunities and help develop creativity and thinking skills.

Mrs Linossier added: ‘While we love to have students begin their journey with us in Kinder or Prep, commencing in Middle School at the start of Year 5 is certainly another key intake level at Chairo for interested families to consider’.
