Gulls claim big win

-

A two-goal win for Warragul’s A grade netballers was the highlight of netball action at Traralgon on Saturday.

A grade: Warragul 31 defeated Traralgon 29

What a day the Gulls had at Traralgon. The girls worked well as a team to get away with a much needed win against a young and upcoming side.

The Gulls’ defensive pressure all over the court was absolutely amazing. Renee Nobelius, Ella “Judy” Rees and Selene Chadrawy have been absolutely phenomenal the last few weeks, with their pressure causing havoc against some amazing attacking line-ups - and its only round five.

Kate Emerson, Jamie Perry, Sienna Green and Alex Cole worked tirelessly in the attacking end, converting well throughout the day.

Awards: Renee Nobelius, Kate Emerson and Sienna Green.

B grade: Warragul 21 lost to Traralgon 45

Another strong hit out for the Gulls against the reigning premiers.

A close game in the first three quarters gave the Gulls the required push.

However, the girls ran out of legs in the last quarter. This allowed Traralgon to pull away for a strong win.

This team has lots of potential and has the club excited for the future.

Awards: Pippa Cook and Lily Sheehan.

C grade: Warragul 32 lost to Traralgon 37

An exciting four quarters had the crowd on the edge of their seats.

Some excellent defensive pressure down the court caused many turnovers in the Gulls’ favour. However, Traralgon held on, coming away fivegoal victors.

17 and under: Warragul 16 lost to Traralgon 57

This was a hard fought out but frustrating game.

The Gulls made good connections down the court. Although, these could not be maintained.

A tall Traralgon side saw Mackenzie Heenan and Arabelle Looby work tirelessly defensively.

Award: Arabelle Looby for her continuous efforts in the defence end.

15 and under: Warragul 8 lost to Traralgon 64

A tough day for the Gulls who fell short against a well established Traralgon side.

Olivia Barr held the defensive end up with her determination and relentless defensive pressure.

Ella Black and Addie Heenan also put in top efforts in attack and throughout the court.

Awards: Olivia Barr, Ella Black and Addie Heenan.

13 and under: Warragul 2 lost to Traralgon 52

It was a tough game for the youngest Gulls, but a lot of fun was had.

For the second half, coach Sienna Green let the girls help pick what positions they wanted to play.

The girls proved they have skills in all positions and two more goals went in - not scored due to the mercy rule.

There was still a lot to like about the game and plenty of laughs.

Awards: Liz Kuol, Evie Jones and Bella Senini.
