Determined Dusties grab win

-

Another beautiful day for footy, another hard contest, with the Dusties senior women's division one team prevailing 1.3 (9) to 1.1 (7) over Karingal on Sunday.

The contest was set, with both teams determined to prove they deserve their spot in division one after being promoted following the 2022 season.

Unsurprisingly, both teams were raring to go from the start.

Although the Dusties had most of the footy in the first half, they only had one goal to show for it, courtesy of Indi Makai.

With the scores level heading into the final quarter, the game was up for grabs.

Once again though, embracing what is fast becoming a signature move, the Dusties surged for the final 20 minutes, mounting significant pressure on the home side's defence.

This renewed Dusties vigour was rewarded with a few additional scoreboard points, just enough to put the pressure of a straight shot back on Karingal.

A fight until the end, the Dusties welcomed the final siren two points up, and sang their song loudly and proudly for their second win of the season. The Dusties' best players were Jess Szalek, Chloe Bailey, Nikia Webber, Indi Makai, Molly Van Berkel and Bella Brown.

The Warragul Industrials division three development team played out a highly competitive and spirited match against Karingal, going down 4.6 (30) to 6.6 (42).

The Dusties showed plenty of heart, particularly when they kicked three goals in the second term.

But ultimately they couldn't quite go with their opponents in the second half, with three Karingal goals to Warragul's one giving the home team the win.

Tayla Lochki, Ellen Croft and Rachelle O'Connor were among the best players for Warragul Industrials.
