Catani tasted victory for the first time this season with a 58-point win over Nilma Darnum.

Playing at home, many in the league may have just given Catani the edge in this battle of two teams yet to register a win.

However, off the back of some good form from Nilma Darnum, few would have predicted such a dominant display.

Both teams showed their intentions in a tight and competitive opening quarter, each scoring just one goal.

Leading by two points, Catani's second quarter was outstanding, booting five goals to two to open up a 23-point margin.

The Blues defence held strong in the third as the Bombers were unable to covert despite having opportunities down forward.

At the final huddles, Catani would have been confident the 34-point margin would be too much to overcome - and it was.

The Blues added another four goals, with the Bombers having chances but ultimately unable to kick a goal after half-time.

Adam Splatt kicked four of Catani's 12 goals, with Lauchlan Gregson contributing three.

Nathan Campbell, Jack Jarred and Malcolm Hunter kicked the Bombers' goals.

Tyler Robinson was outstanding for the Blues, alongside Thomas Keily, Splatt and Josh Masset.

Sage Tapner was best for Nilma, alongside Cody Harrison, Jeremy Jarred and Sebastian Crowle who never gave up.

Cats claw Crows

A late goal saved Longwarry from a goalless game against a rampant Neerim-Neerim South.

On their home deck, the Cats totally outshone the Crows, 22.22-154 to 1.9-15.

Unable to hit the scoreboard in the first quarter, Longwarry scored just nine points until a last grasp goal by Jedd Serong in the closing minutes.

After a disappointing loss against Ellinbank had relegated them to sixth position on the ladder, the Cats showed little mercy in Saturday's game.

With two changes to the side - captain Kody Wilson and Rhys George in for outs Chris Urie and Harry Notman, Neerim-Neerim South completely shell shocked Longwarry from the opening bounce.

A six goal to nil opening quarter, led to the half-time score of 13.11-89 to 0.7-7 as Longwarry

rued a few missed shots on goal.

The pain didn't stop for the Crows in the third quarter, as the Cats piled on a further four goals. And, it could have been worse, with 17 behind registered.

The Cats had a five goal final quarter as the Crows didn't let up to finally get a goal on the board.

Pleasingly for Neerim-Neerim South, there was a spread of goalkickers.

Luke Kinder and Lachlan Bambridge continued their strong seasons with four goals apiece, with Thomas Crole, Lachlan Guy and Jeremiah Jones booting three each.

Cats youngster Ayden Ramm played his best game of the year, with veterans Tyssen Morrow and Nathan Bayne chipping in to lead the charge. Rhys George also took the most of his opportunity to be amongst his team's best.

For the Crows, Ben Cuckson never gave up, with youngster Liam Kirkman, newcomer Brayden Chandler and another youngster Cooper Brown also giving it their all.

Saints surprise Tigers

A terrific second quarter set Nyora up for its first win of the season over more fancied opponents Lang Lang.

Nick Anderson inspired the Saints to victory, with four goals in a best afield performance during the 10.11-71 to 7.6-48 win.

Playing at Nyora, the first quarter saw neither team able to open a sizeable margin. Both teams showed their capabilities with the Tigers leading 3.2-20 to 2.6-18 at the first break.

However, the Saints soared in the second, kicking five straight goals to the Tigers' two points. The Saints led 7.6-48 to 3.4-22.

This 26-point lead ultimately set Nyora up for the win, with Lang Lang unable to put on scoreboard pressure.

Both teams kicked two goals each in the third term, with the Tigers narrowly winning the final quarter.

Helping Anderson, Scott Pugh kicked two for the Saints.

Chaise Jordan impressed with four goals for the Tigers, with Geordie Wells chipping in two.

The two Andersons, Nick and Jordan, were named Nyora's best players in addition to Samuel Dixon and Dylan Heylen.

For Lang Lang, Kaden Finlay Smith, Brett Kirkham, Jason Stokkel and Brad Harding played good games.
