Strikers turn the tables

Gippsland Strikers under 18s travelled to Melbourne on Friday night to take KBH Brumbies, the team that beat them in last year's grand final.

They turned the tables with and impressive 3-0 win after leading 1-0 at half-time.

Team manager Natalie Oellermann said there were moments of brilliance and lots of room for improvement.

“With it only being the second game of the season, we are excited to see what this talented team can do,” Natalie said.

Tarilyn Bottrell was fantastic in defence and Jordan Oellermann was formidable in the centre, scoring all three goals.

The Strikers Women were greeted with perfect hockey conditions for their Mother's Day clash with Melton Mustangs.

In a feisty game that could have gone either way, the Strikers came back in the fourth, scoring an equalising goal to ended the match in a 1-1 draw.

It was lovely to share a postmatch afternoon tea with the Melton crew in the sunshine.
