Youthies dominant

-

After a close game against ladder leaders Sale City last week the Dusties youth girls were feeling confident going into Sunday's game against Morwell youthies.

Even with four of their top players away playing for Gippsland Power, the Dusties dominated all four quarters, coming away with a comfortable 5.9 (39) to 0.0 (0) win.

From the outset the Dusties were in and on the ball.

Morwell made some good clearances but the Dusties girls were quick to tackle and smother the ball, giving their opposition no chance to get it into their forward for the majority of the game.

Points were on the board within the first two minutes with a quick missed snap by Georgia Keeble followed up by another point, then a lucky goal from Sienna Wakefield booting it off the ground.

It was a wet day and the ball was slippery to handle but the Dusties were feeling self-assured with an eight point lead at quarter time.

Kira Wilson, Rianna Jinnette and Amy Boote dominated the centre, stopping Morwell getting the ball into their forward.

Molly Schuurmans, strong in the centre and forward, was quick to get the ball and clearing the play, using her body to hold back the Morwell girls, while Isabella Sowerby was fearless in helping get the ball out of the pack feeding it to her teammates.

Eden Simcocks and Georgia Keeble displayed great teamwork in the forward line, resulting in Keeble scoring again with a goal in the second quarter.

The few times the ball made it to Morwell's forward in the third quarter it was stopped with awesome marking by Freya Petrie.

She was able to quickly boot the ball wide, clearing the congestion and sending it back into the Dusties forward.

The practiced switch of play left the Morwell girls flat-footed, resulting in goals on the board for Stella Kittelty then Molly Schuurmans.

The Dusties were up 29 to zero at the start of the final quarter.

The Dusties hit their stride in the final quarter, running and taking more risks.

A good handball by Stella Kittelty led to an early goal for Jayda Armstrong, excited to kick her first goal for the Dusties.

Latitia Lennox in the forward pocket displayed strength and determination, tackling a Morwell opponent to the ground. A win of the ball late in the quarter had her make her first score this season.

The siren sounded with the Dusties girls left very happy after a strong 39-point win.

Best on ground for Warragul Industrials were Kira Wilson, Molly Schuurmans, Rianna Jinnette, Jayda Armstrong, Isabella Sowerby and Freya Petrie.
