Give a forgotten animal a home
WITH the Christmas season in full swing, there will be parents looking to buy a new pet for their family.
Southern Downs Ark is inundated with more than 120 dogs and cats that need permanent homes but its president, Ann Simon, said there was a lot for potential owners to consider.
“So often people get puppies and think they are cute when they are little, but they get them home and the puppies piddle everywhere, they chew shoes and once they pass the puppy stage the become gangly and not so cute anymore,” she said “You have to look at least at a 14-18-year commitment to that animal.
“Parents need to ask themselves, have they got the time to train their pet, and if the animal gets sick, do they have money to look after it?”
Southern Downs ARK will be at the Uber Markets today.
