B-double off the highway at Karara at weekend
A TRUCK driver in his 20s was transported to Warwick Hospital after his B-double rolled near the corner of Cunningham Highway and the Toowoomba Karara Rd adjacent to the Karara Hotel.
The man was out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived on scene after 9pm Saturday.
He was treated by the Queensland Ambulance Service and taken to Warwick Hospital with minor leg injuries.
The B-double had rolled down an embankment and hit a large tree.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service was on scene with one unit from Warwick and the Karara Rural Fire Brigade.
The QFES specialist rescue crew from Toowoomba was called but turned around when they discovered there was no entrapment.
As the vehicle was off the road, traffic was not blocked by the crash on Saturday night.
The QFES tended to a fuel leak.
Up to 250 litres of the 700 litres in the truck’s fuel tank ended up in the dry earth.
The highway was closed for 15 minutes on Sunday afternoon so the truck and load could be lifted back onto the highway for removal.
DAMAGE DONE: The scene early Sunday after the Saturday night crash at Karara.
