A LOCAL tyre business was awarded work in excess of $1 million after Rockingham Council approved a tender submission at its last meeting on December 19, 2017.

The tender is for the supply, fit and repair of tyres for the City of Rockingham’s fleet of plant and passenger vehicles.

The business on Dixon Road ranked the highest for both contracts.

Rockingham - Medina Tyre Service scored the highest in the tender process by representing the best value to the City, according to a report prepared for the council.

Tenders were received from Platinum Tyre Services Rockingham, Goodyear Dunlop Tyres Australia Pty Ltd and Bridgestone Australia Ltd.

The tender period will be from the date of the contract award until August 31, 2020.

The contract work includes the supply, fitting, repair and disposal of tyres at the contractors workshop and/or onsite at various locations within the City of Rockingham.

It is estimated the yearly tender expenditure is $255,377 for the heavy plant and $83,026 for the passenger vehicles.

The City said the contract rates would be subject to a price variation every 12 months from the date of award.

This variation will be calculated in accordance with the Consumer Price Index for Perth.
