Weekend Courier - - Opinion -

THANK you Peter Edwards for your fantastic suggestion of a touristonly caravan park in Point Peron. Your views of a harmonious mix of people quietly enjoying nature and holidaying is a stroke of genius. So who out there remember Rockingham’s first caravan park, Sunray Village (corner of Kent Street and Patterson Road) - now gone? Palm Beach caravan park - now gone. RSL caravan park at Point Peron also now gone. Did you know that statistics of 2016 shows there was over 610,000 caravans and motorhomes registered in Australia that year? There are even more now. Imagine the tourists (probably even locals as well) flocking to our Mangles Bay Caravan Park right on the beach, overlooking our beautiful Cockburn Sound and its islands. The retirees enjoying our restaurants, children enjoying our beaches, international tourists seeing our magnificent Australian coast from eco-friendly vantage points and tourist operators. Local business of all forms will benefit from increased trade generated from the tourists. I'm sure more sightseeing tours, cafes etc will pop up employing our local people to staff them.
