Rodwell to realise his big goal

Weekend Courier - - Sport -

SEASONED polo player Greg Rodwell has landed his dream gig – competing at Polo in the Valley on April 8.

This year the event is sponsored by prestigious carmaker, Bentley.

An exciting and exhilarating sport for players, horses and spectators alike, Rodwell is looking forward to his debut at the event.

“I’ve been competing for about 30 years but this is my very first time competing in Polo in the Valley,” he said.

“I’ve attended a few events over the years and it’s always such a great day with great people.”

The Karnup resident said the game of polo is quite an adrenaline rush.

“My father was a polo player so it’s in my blood. I believe my first competition was when I was 18 years old,” he said. “The most challenging part of polo is mastering the horse and ball – it’s like playing golf at 40 miles an hour.”

The ninth annual Polo in the Valley raises money for WA charities Youth Focus and Telethon.

More than $900,000 has been raised for the charities since the event’s inception.
