FREDERICK Irwin Anglican School Meadow Springs and Halls Head campuses follow the Walker Learning Pedagogy from kindergarten to Year 6.

The Walker Learning Approach is an Australian-designed, developmentally appropriate pedagogy that embraces the concept of the “whole child”.

The kindergarten to Year 2 pedagogy encompasses intentional teaching through play, while the Year 3 to Year 6 pedagogy, Engagement Matters, is a personalised learning model that continues to develop and foster the key principles of the Walker Learning Approach.

Both encompass developmentally appropriate practices to continue to engage students in their learning and to develop the skills necessary for 21st century learning.

In addition to the unique elements of Walker Learning, the explicit teaching of literacy, numeracy and all other curriculum areas and requirements of the WA Curriculum are covered.

Also celebrated as a ‘lighthouse’ school for the Walker Learning pedagogy, the Meadow Springs campus hosts study tours over the year for interested education personnel across WA.
