Paul Harms and wife Nicki Gal­way are the brains be­hind the res­i­dence – it is the pair’s fourth house they’ve ei­ther ren­o­vated or built to­gether and the fin­ished prod­uct shows off their ex­per­tise.

“We ac­tu­ally bounce ideas off each other,” Mr Harms said. “If we don’t agree with some­thing we come up with an­other so­lu­tion.”

Mr Harms, a builder who owns Gold Coast­based busi­ness PJH Con­struc­tions, said the pair sub­di­vided the cor­ner block af­ter buy­ing it last year. “The plan was to de­mol­ish the house that was on there,” Mr Harms said. “We came up with a de­sign that met the height re­stric­tions and we’ve got an­other de­sign for the other half of the block.”

The pair, who have two young daugh­ters, spent five months build­ing the house be­fore they moved in ear­lier this year.

From the out­side the house stands out with a mix of clean lines, tim­ber and con­crete.

The con­crete and tim­ber pan­elling com­bi­na­tion con­tin­ues in­side while high ceil­ings and lux­ury fin­ishes com­ple­ment the style.
