Weekend Gold Coast Bulletin - Property
Timeless tri-level European abode
Modern architecture is infused with European influences over three sprawling levels of living space, offering a plethora of rooms and stunning skyline views.
VENDOR Sean Llewelyn built the property in 2006, five years after buying the block which had an old house on it.
“Principally I wanted a solid house,” said Mr Llewelyn.
“So it’s very solid and the floors are concrete. We drew it up while we were overseas.”
In some places the walls are 36cm thick, and the block work has been reinforced; the property maintains its elegance through cement-style porcelain floor tiles, soaring ceilings, white plantation shutters and antique Spanish timber doors.
Outside, olive trees, lavender and pencil pines pepper the exterior with classic French provincial influences and there’s a turquoise-tiled pool and sun lounging terrace.
“It’s a particularly handsome house, and it’s very functional with large volumes,” said Mr Llewelyn, a former merchant banker who lived in Spain before the Gold Coast.
“I’m selling because I’m a widower and the house is too big now.”
The property also features an internal cable lift, boat shed, and basement parking but it’s the inconspicuousness of one feature that Mr Llewelyn is fond of.
“I don’t like staircases so one of my favourite features is the staircase hidden behind a wall, they never look attractive unless you have a statement staircase.”
