Harbour home the perfect escape

Escape to the private oasis that is this harbour front Sanctuary Cove villa, which features a poolside bar with barbecue

THE privacy and position of this Sanctuary Cove harbour front villa are what makes it so special.

Owner Cassandra Dean-Rankin said the marina vistas and peaceful surrounds made it the perfect escape from a busy lifestyle.

It was what made her buy the rundown, Tuscan-inspired property 20 years ago.

She figured it would be relatively easy to improve the two-storey home’s style but said the position couldn’t be beaten.

“I lived in Hong Kong and came back and thought, ‘I really want to buy one of those harbour front villas’,” Ms Dean-Rankin said.

“I’m right in the curve of the horse shoe so I’m very protected.”

While she changes the home’s style regularly, Ms Dean-Rankin said a renovation had brought its design up to a more modern standard.

“The bones of the property are very good (but) I’ve made it so you can walk away and not have to maintain it,” Ms Dean-Rankin said.

She enjoyed spending time in the courtyard most, especially after sunset when the moon and sky reflected off the water. “It’s going to be sad to say goodbye,” Ms Dean-Rankin said.

A new kitchen, the master bedroom’s private balcony, a fireplace and courtyard overlooking the marina with outdoor bar, barbecue and pool are standout features of the home.
