Ven­dor James Rice, the boss of South Aus­tralian prop­erty de­vel­op­ment com­pany Ur­ban Con­struct, knocked down the ex­ist­ing dwelling and built lux­ury du­plexes that were com­pleted in March.

“The de­sign brief was to cre­ate a nat­u­ral and time­less pal­ette with the use of lots of nat­u­ral ma­te­ri­als in­clud­ing wood, stone and wool,” Mr Rice said. “We also wanted to head towards a car­bon neu­tral home with the tesla battery and the so­lar sys­tem gen­er­at­ing about 25kws a day which if used nor­mally no elec­tric­ity from the grid is re­quired.”

The four-bed­room res­i­dence, which has not been lived in, fea­tures a study, high ceil­ings, Black­butt tim­ber floor­ing and qual­ity fix­tures and fit­tings.

“The brief was also to in­clude the use of light, space and air flow, hence the floor to ceil­ing height of 3m on the ground floor and the lightwell void stream­ing into the stair­well which cre­ates this real sense of space,” he
