Price bar set higher
A new street record is set following the multimillion-dollar sale of a Carrara property
THE multimillion-dollar sale of a palatial Carrara property has set a new price record for its waterfront street.
The sprawling residence at 2 Witt Ave fetched $3 million, which is double the previous record set by the sale of No. 6 in 2005.
Marketing agent Grant Stephens, of Harcourts Coastal Broadbeach, said it went under contract earlier this year and settled last month.
The seven bedroom, nine bathroom property was on the market for about eight months before Mr Stephens took over the marketing. He found the new owner five months later. “They are business owners down in Melbourne,” Mr Stephens said.
“It’s basically going to be a holiday home for them.”
He said the new owners liked the privacy of the prestige home, which sits on a 3063sq m block and has a tennis court and pool in a screened atrium.
Despite being on the market for more than a year, Mr Stephens said it attracted a lot of interest from house hunters.
“We actually had several offers on it,” he said.
He said the market in Carrara was performing well, with demand and property prices continuing to climb.
“It’s been an emerging area for a few years,” he said.
“It’s a very highly sought after area there, (because) it’s close to everything.”
According to latest CoreLogic data, the median sale price for a house in Carrara has jumped more than 40 per cent in the past five years to $590,000.
Figures show residents hold onto their houses for an average of 11 years while the median days on market is 25.
2 Witt Ave, Carrara has changed hands for $3 million.
