Designed by the Gold Coast’s very own ‘Brady Bunch’, this Mermaid Waters property is ideal for large families in need of plenty of space

With six bedrooms, a pool and multiple living and entertainment areas, there are few properties that could match this Mermaid Waters house.

Owners Leanne and David Taverner designed the house to cater to their large family, who were often referred to as ‘The Brady Bunch’.

The couple bought the original house not long after they started dating but with Mrs Taverner’s three daughters and Mr Taverner’s three sons, they soon realised they needed more space.

“We bought the place back in 2009 off a little old lady who was the original owner of the house,” Mr Taverner said.

The old garage was converted into a room for the boys to ensure everyone had enough space.

“It worked for five years until they started getting a bit older and a bit bigger,” Mr Taverner said.

“The brief with the building design was ‘give us as many rooms we can change the function of if required’.”

He said it gave them plenty of space to spend time together as a family and spread out when they needed time to themselves.

“The back deck and the kitchen looking onto the pool — they would be the two favourite areas,” Mr Taverner said.

The couple are downsizing because most of their children have moved out.
