A labour of love creates luxe home

Martin and Dina Kenins have created a jawdropping residence at Emerald Lakes — and at every turn there are details to captivate the eye

STYLE and sophistication go hand-in-hand when describing this luxury waterfront villa.

Located in Carrara’s sought-after Emerald Lakes, no expense has been spared in the design and construction of the four-bedroom residence.

Vendors Martin and Dina Kenins (pictured right) bought the block in August, 2015, drawn to the spectacular vista over the water.

“After an exhaustive search for sites our first visit to 5022 Emerald Island Drive the significant potential of the block was immediately apparent,” Mr Kenins, a developer and builder, said.

“Emerald Lakes is somewhat a hidden gem on the Gold Coast; the French Quarter is different to every other suburb and the waterfront block with unobstructed views to a nature reserve was too good to pass up.”

The pair, who runs Kenins Developments, subdivided the block and built two luxury residences — they had a grand vision from the start.

“We wanted the property to be something special where at every aspect and turn there would be details to captivate the eye,” he said.

“During the design process we worked to create functional and liveable homes that also include every luxury feature you would want in a high-end product. Our main focus during the build was quality and attention to detail. Engaging subcontractors with a similar mindset and ethic was paramount.”

They spent six months designing the residences and two years building them.

“Both of them were built as if they were our own homes, they have definitely been a labour of love,” he said.

They moved into the other property earlier this year and finished No. 1 last month.

The two-storey residence stands out with a blend of concrete, glass and timber, black and white hues, and clean lines throughout.

The home also features floor to ceiling glazing and sliding doors to allow for breathtaking views of the surroundings area.

“The property requires several visits to truly capture all the workmanship and vantage points throughout the residence,” he said.

Mr and Mrs Kenins say the green rooftop garden is one of the standout features of the home. “The irrigated roof features palms and several hundred carefully selected low maintenance plants,” he said.

The ground floor includes an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area that opens out to the patio and pool that wraps around the residence. A courtyard to the side of the home separates the living areas and the staircase and is easily accessible via sliding doors.

There is one bedroom downstairs while the remaining three bedrooms as well as another living area are upstairs.

The main bedroom is comparable to a luxury hotel with its dressing room, ensuite with freestanding bath and waterfront balcony.
