Craving a relaxed lifestyle

A new Main Beach project is luring downsizers in need of a sea change

TRADING a large home for a beachside apartment was an obvious choice for Garry and Shelley Biggs.

The couple’s three-year search for the perfect apartment has finally come to an end after securing a luxury residence in Main Beach’s new 16-level residential building, Cerulean.

“We were tired of being slaves to our property – all our weekends were devoted to the gardens, the lawns and pool and we craved a lower maintenance lifestyle,” Mr Biggs said.

“We spent a lot of time researching and visiting open homes in existing buildings in and around Main Beach.

“We liked the area but all the existing apartments we inspected required work or were in busy buildings with hundreds of other residents.”

Construction on the project, which is being developed by Queensland-based Cityvest Holdings, is expected to start early next year.

It will have a mix of three-bedroom residences, a four-bedroom full floor penthouse and a one-of-a-kind garden residence on the ground floor.

Each apartment, which start from $1.275 million, comes with two side-by-side parking spaces and two cubic metres of storage space in the underground carpark.

It is attracting mostly owner occupiers who like that it is a building of just 29 apartments with intimate resident facilities.

These include a pool deck overlooking nearby Macintosh Island and the development’s landscaped gardens as well as an outdoor lounge, barbecue facilities, an outdoor gym and pool.

Mrs Biggs said Cerulean’s location near Tedder Ave was a major drawcard.

“It’s located in a quiet pocket of Main Beach just 100m from the sand - everything we could possibly need is within walking distance,” she said.

“You can easily wander down to the shops, cafes and restaurants on Tedder Ave or to the beach, and it’s just a short walk to the tram. While we are out of the rat race we still have easy access to the motorway and all the popular lifestyle precincts on the Gold Coast.”

Colliers residential director David Higgins said most of the buyers had been looking for an apartment in the area for some time.

“Cerulean is designed for the owner occupier seeking lower maintenance living without having to compromise on comfort, space, storage or lifestyle,” he said.

“The apartments range between 190sq m and 428sq m, with 2.6m high ceilings and spacious lifestyle zones.

“With just two apartments per floor residents will enjoy privacy, security and a sense of community.”

The Cerulean display suite is located at 18 Tedder Ave, Main Beach and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
