Mansion a colourful canvas
Eclectic style meets luxury glamour in this waterfront home, which paints a colourful picture of the owners’ well-travelled lives
IT is easy to see why Jessica Puljich was left in awe after taking a look inside the luxurious Carrara residence that would one day become her home.
From the house’s detailed design and craftsmanship to its waterfront position and the lush gardens surrounding it, she and her husband fell head over heels in love with it.
“The house in its entirety immediately impressed us — it had such a great vibe,” she said.
“I remember it was dusk and I stood at the edge of the alfresco area and looked out over the landscaped backyard towards the river and it literally took my breath away.”
The British Colonial style home is on a 4000sq m block on Maryland Ave.
Classic and eclectic styles have been expertly blended to create a laid-back retreat in the heart of suburbia.
Ms Puljich, who bought the house in 2016, said its interior painted a picture of her life.
“Interior design is all about storytelling,” she said. “Every room is a self-portrait of our favourite things from our travels and our life.”
The two-storey mansion makes the most of its expansive footprint with a large open floorplan.
Floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors offer a seamless flow between the kitchen, living and dining rooms and the outdoor entertainment area.
Feature lighting puts the family room’s bar in the spotlight while a fireplace in the lounge offers the perfect place to curl up on a winter’s day. A home office, media room and gym complete the ground floor.
Upstairs, there are four bedrooms and a living area with balcony access.
The main bedroom with an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe also has a balcony with views of the water.
A pool with frameless glass fencing and a firepit are standout features of the backyard.
Trees line the riverfront hiding the property from nosy neighbours while a boat ramp and pontoon offer easy access to the water. The property also has a separate guesthouse with a kitchen and bathroom.
The main bedroom’s glamorous edge was a highlight for Ms Puljich but she loved the lounge room most.
“It’s wonderful, no matter the season,” she said.
“In the winter we draw the blinds, close it off and curl up by the fire, making it a really romantic room.
“While in the warmer weather it integrates with the alfresco area and opens right up with views of the grounds and pool.”
Kollosche agent Eddie Wardale, who was marketing the property with Michael Kollosche, said it had attracted a “ridiculous amount” of interest. The property was listed for $6.75 million but sold just before publication deadline.
